Blake Coleman scored two goals for special teams to lead the host Calgary Flames an important 4-1 victory against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday.
Nazem Kadri and Kevin Rooney also scored for the flames (36-27-12, 84 points) that helped their playoff hopes. Calgary’s Yegor Sharangovich collected two templates, and goalkeeper Dustin Wolf achieved 26 parades.
The flames are five points back for second place in the Western Conference. Calgary still has seven games and Minnesota has six games ahead of her.
Olen Zellweger met for the ducks (33-34-8, 74 points), which were officially removed from the dispute after the season.
The Anaheim goalkeeper John Gibson left the game after two periods due to an injury to the lower body after stopping 23 out of 26 shots with which he was confronted. Lukas Dostal turned 7 out of 8 shots aside.
Calgary won all three meetings this season with another on Wednesday in Anaheim.
The flames broke the collision directly behind the Midway point.
Coleman gave Calgary a 2-1 lead in the second period at 10:25 a.m. by converting a short-term outbreak that he had created when he caught a pass in his own blue line. He landed in 10 games with his first goal.
Rooney gave the flames a drought of 18 games at 3:19 p.m. with a goal with two goals on the middle frame. His high shot from the slot ended an excellent shift in the club’s fourth line.
Colemans Power Play goal 77 seconds in the third period, a sharp angle, rounded off the rush from the bottom of the right circle and rounded off the goal.
Anaheim did not bother to draw the goalkeeper for an additional attacker during a comeback attempt.
In the first half it was a tight game in which the clubs taunted the first goals of the first period.
Kadri opened 16 seconds in connection with when he decided to shoot a two-on-one storm and whip a top corner shot.
