The Philadelphia Phillies could not achieve their first season again last weekend, but on Thursday afternoon you will get another opportunity to complete a home series with the Colorado Rockies.

The Phillies defeated the Washington National in their first two games, but could not sweep this series when they lost 5-1 on Sunday. Philadelphia has a similar start to the current series and wins the first two games in a matinee on Thursday.

In the 5-1 win of the Phillies on Wednesday, Zack Wheeler scored 10 over seven innings from one-run-ball, and Edmundo Sosa and Trea Turner each scored three goals to fire the offensive.

Sosa in particular is on fire to start the young season. The versatile utilityman is 9: 15 (.600) with several goals in each of his four games.

“The way (Sosas) has taken his bats and even spring training with it, the guy is only a great personality in the way he deals with his business,” said Wheeler. “A professional ever.”

Kyle Freeland allowed three runs and nine goals in 6 2/3 innings for Colorado, which has lost four of his first five games. Hunter Goodman scored for the Rockies’ only run. Colorado achieved an average of two runs per game in the young season.

“As a group, we don’t swing the bats well,” said Colorado Manager Bud Black. “We have a few people who are, but as we often talked about that in their nine-man line-up they really get five or six people who swing the bat in their nine-man cast and click and click.”

Kris Bryant (1: 14) and Michael Toglia (1: 19) are among the Rocky Mountains who are still looking for their groove.

“Finally, the boys we know will be about to beat,” said Black.

In the series finale, both teams will call a starting jug that has gone through a lot of adversity in recent years.

Taijuan Walker (3-7, 7.10 ERA in 2024) receives the nod for Philadelphia in his season debut with all-star Lefty Ranger Suarez on the injured list. The experienced right -hander was removed from the rotation of the Phillies last summer and ended the season with a cut average of the opponents of 0.317 with 24 homes in 83 2/3 innings.

“He went through a difficult time last year, he really did it -and I felt it for him,” said Phillies manager Rob Thomson during spring training. “But to his honor, he has left it behind in the low season, and he’s another guy.”

Antonio Senzatela (0: 0, 0.00 ERA) takes the ball for Colorado after a bizarre Saisondeu. The right -handed man threw 4 1/3 goalless Innings against the Tampa Bay Rays and scattered nine goals and two walks without strike.

Senzatela missed most of the last two seasons after the operation of Tommy John, not to mention a knee injury that shortened his 2022 season. He returned last September last September and allowed 10 runs (nine earned), 15 goals and eight walks over 12 1/3 innings.

“It was difficult to be out of the game for almost three years,” said Senzatela last month. “Being outside and having fun enjoying the day, playing the boys is really fun and I want to be part of it.”
