The Florida Panthers and Detroit Red Wings will have the playoffs in their heads if they meet in Detroit on Sunday.
The Red Wings hope that a last increase has reached the post -season for the first time since 2016. Detroit (35-33-7, 77 points) is six points behind Montreal for the second and last wildcard square in the Eastern Conference.
With a game in Montreal on Tuesday, a victory against the Panthers Detroit would give dynamics.
The game against Florida will also be important for Detroit, since it is the second last home competition of the regular regular season.
The Red Wings will end on the street with five of their last six games. Therefore, it would be helpful to use a home game because they are looking for a return to the playoffs. Detroit missed a place last year after a post -season in a race that was due to the last game of the regular season.
“The story is not yet finished,” said Red Wings coach Todd McLellan. “We can write another chapter.
Detroit achieved a 5-3 win against Carolina on Friday.
“Obviously a team similar to Carolina,” said Red Wings striker Patrick Kane about the Panthers. “A big pressure and well with the penalty murder. The same type of penalty killing with a lot of pressure. You can frustrate it.
While Detroit is just trying to get into the playoffs, Florida wants to get an advantage of home ice for the off -season.
After the games on Saturday, including Florida’s 3-0 defeat in Ottawa, the Panthers (44-28: 4, 92 points) are two points behind Tampa Bay for second place in the Atlantic division and six behind Toronto for first place.
The Panthers are in a comfortable place for a playoff lounger because they prepare to defend their Stanley Cup crown, but they have a defeat against four games.
Sunday will be the second game of a rear back set for the Panthers, which has been occurring for you recently recently.
“Twenty of our last 44 games were played like this,” said Panthers coach Paul Maurice and referred to two games. “So we feel a bit. But that’s a good thing. It’s a good thing.”
This will be the second of three meetings between the teams this season. The third and last will take place in Florida on Thursday.
Detroit defeated Florida 5-2 on January 16 in the only other meeting this season.
