Tiger, Augusta National to join the nine-hole course and the training center

Tiger Woods putts on the 13th green during a training round for the Masters Golfurnier in the Augusta National Golf Club in 2019.

Tiger Woods will work with the Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters tournament to bring Augusta “affordable golf and educational programs”.

Fred Ridley, chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters, announced details on the agreement with the five-time master champion on Monday when the tournament week began with heavy rain, which delayed most of the celebrations of the day.

The TGR Foundation, a non -profit organization directed by Woods, revealed plans, a new TGR Learning Lab in Augusta, Georgia, to be built in order to become the fourth training center that was opened by Woods. His course architecture firm TGR Design will also design the new nine-hole short place as part of the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, generally known as “The Patch”.

“Today’s announcements are an important milestone for Augusta and deepen the connection that our community has with one of our greatest master Tiger Woods,” said Ridley. “We are grateful to work with the TGR Foundation and invest together in the Augusta community. This partnership in the TGR Learning Lab reflects our common interest in increasing access to high-quality programming and effects on the next generation in a concrete way.

According to Ridley, the agreement is part of a “obligation to create an affordable and inviting golf experience … Creation of opportunities for learning and falling in love with the game and the development of a pipeline for employment in the golf industry”.

“The partnership with the Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is really something special,” said Woods. “My passion for education and golf comes over a long time, as well as my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augusta. This is a transformative opportunity to strengthen the next generation and provide sensible educational programs and access to entertaining and affordable Golf. I look forward to working together with Augusta National and seeing both projects reality.”

Woods does not play in the master because of his health. It is the first time that he missed a start to the tournament since a car accident extinguished its entire 2022 season. On March 11, Woods announced that he was operated on his broken Achilles tendon. The recovery of complete mobility from the injury can take 6-12 months.

With the exception of a tournament with his son Charlie and TGL Events, the 49-year-old Woods played Golf no longer competitive since the Open Championship 2024 last July.
