    Wasim Khan wins the Maiden title at PGTI Nexgens Phillaur Open

    Phillaur: Wasim Khan von Delhi shot one last round of four under 67 to bring his total to 10 under 203 for the week and thus win his first title at the PGTI Nexgen’s Phillaur Open, which was presented by RS Gill in the Ranjitgarh Golf Club in Phillaur, Punjab.

    Lucknows Rajesh Kumar Gautam (68) and Chandimandirs Chandarjeet Yadav (69) ended the second second with a total of eight under 205.

    Kurush Heerjee (71) from Jamshedpur, the overnight head, ended fourth place with a total of seven under 206 together with Chandigarhs Brashwarpal Singh (69).

    The thirty-four-year-old Wasim Khan (67-69-67), who was overnight and one of the leadership, exceeded the rest of the field on the last day when he mixed seven birdies with a bogey and a double bogey during his 67 round.

    Wasim said: “I am very happy to register my first professional victory. I won earlier because I had two second -placed people on the PGTI Feeder Tour in 2019. I am glad that I can complete the game this time.

    “My game has been in good condition in Kapurthala since the event of last week. So I just decided to continue this week with the same game plan and play percentage golf by trying to reach maximum fairways and greens. The advice from my mentor and senior professional Shamim Khan helped me a lot.”
