Why Daniel Sprong won’t play again in the NHL

Daniel Sprong had a wild trip during his young NHL career. After he was collected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2nd round of the NHL entry design in 2015, he played between the NHL and the AHL game for six different professional organizations. After the Seattle Kraken Sprong had acquired from the Washington Capitals from the 2022 trade closure, it seemed as if Sprong had finally found his home in the PNW. In the last 16 games of this season, he scored six goals, which prompted the octopus to sign him for a one -year contract for the stay in Seattle. That helped him find his next step -in the melody of a season of 21 goals in ’22 -’23.

This success evaluated him from the Seattle situation at the time and earned him a salary day of $ 2 million in Detroit, where he scored 18 goals in the year23-24. However, Detroit decided not to re -sign him and found his way back to the west coast via Vancouver. He scored only one goal in nine games to start this season and spent more time in the press box than healthy scratches than in the line -up. As a result, he was withdrawn against “future considerations” to Seattle. In view of the fact that the Canucks have literally made him nothing in the league, including many excited Seattle fans who wanted him back.

However, Sprong found his way back to the press box and finally on January 8, where he was available to all 31 other NHL organizations for collection. Nobody called to his own surprise. This meant that he was on the next flight to Palm Springs, where he would join the AHL coachella Valley Firebirds. In six games with Coachella, he scored four goals to achieve two templates. This status as a point per player seems to be good enough for an NHL squad. Unfortunately, why is he fighting so much?

    Defense liability

While Sprong found success in the offensive column, he has greatly criticized due to a lack of review. Numerous coaches have openly commented on how they would like to do more in defense and play a 200-foot game. This is the main reason why he has difficulty staying in the NHL – while the league changes to a more defensive playing style. And if you cannot set yourself with the game, you will be left behind. He has the speed and skills, but it is also important to use these skills at both ends of the ice cream. And this is not the only thing that has influenced his chances of returning to an NHL cover room.

    Attitude and claim

After Daniel Sprong’s first game in Coachella Valley, where he scored two goals, asked whether he was satisfied with his performance. And his reaction raised some eyebrows.

Honestly? I expected it. I am an NHL player. I want to prove that I don’t belong here. I scored 21 goals and 46 points in the NHL. I had the feeling that I was a few steps ahead of the other boys on the ice, so I have to slow down my game a little to reach their speed. I will teach the boys what I can do while I am here, but I hope I’m not here for long.

This is not only annoying, but also disappointing. As a professional athlete, it is acceptable to convince yourself in the skills – but sometimes you also have to be modest and modest for the balance. If you clarify waiver, this means that 31 other teams had the opportunity to take a chance of using them and said: “No, thank you”. For most people, this would probably trigger some self -reflections. Instead, Sprong decided to carry a chip on his shoulder against the entire league and to bring this into a changing room with a minor-pro. I cannot imagine that his teammates are enthusiastic about his comments in any way. If there was a team that was on the fence to acquire its services, you have probably shifted to other options after exhibiting this setting.

It is important to remember – playing in the National Hockey League is a privilege, no right. There is no guarantees and the possibility can be removed at any time. For all children out there who watch – the lesson learned here is to remain humble and always strive to get better. Do not develop a ego, otherwise you may reach your climax or borders much earlier than you want.

My prediction for Daniel Sprong: He ends the season with the Firebirds and then signed a contract with a team in Russia with the KHL in the off -season. If Sprong is able to put his head and attitude into check, he will get one last recording in the NHL. If not, he will never step back into the top league cover rooms in the world.
